At its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, the County of San Mateo Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution:
- Certifying the Final Environmental Impact Report for the San Carlos Airport Master Plan Update/Airport Modernization Project (Plan) as complete, correct, adequate and prepared in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act; and
- Approving the list of San Carlos Airport Modernization Project Proposed Improvements.
Work on the San Carlos Airport Master Plan began nine years ago! The airport modernization projects include the construction of new hangars, installation of an ASOS, replacement of the existing VASIs with PAPIs, and various infrastructure improvements.
The approval process at Tuesday's meeting went extremely smoothly. The only public speaker was SCAPA President, Colleen Turner. Her presentation included a letter and personal remarks urging the Board to adopt the Master Plan. To see a copy of Colleen's letter, click here.
On behalf of all of our members, pilots, and users of the San Carlos Airport, SCAPA would like to publicly thank the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors for their favorable consideration of the Master Plan.
Congratulations and a big "Thank You" to former Airport Manager, Gary Petersen, Airport Manager, Mark Larson, his entire staff, and the San Mateo County Department of Public Works for their tireless and persistent efforts on winning the required environmental and legislative approvals of the San Carlos Airport Master Plan.
